Bird vs Magic 2011 Style

If you are a NBA fan, you’ve got to be lovin’ these playoffs. So much excitement. So much drama. So many late nights.
To recap...
Round 1: Our Sixers got beat so long ago, they’re probably back from their cruises by now. Jameer and his Magic were man-handled by the Hawks. The Knicks wish they had the team that they traded to Denver, as Boston pulled out the brooms on them. Denver (Knicks west) was no match for OKC. Chicago toyed with Indiana. Memphis crushed San Antonio. And, Kobe survived CP3 and New Orleans.
Round 2: Miami made Boston look as old as they are. OKC and Memphis couldn’t decide who wanted it more, as Memphis finally succumbed in 7. Chicago embarrassed Atlanta in that 6th game. And, Dallas swept Kobe off the court (and I expect Kobe will sweep his roster this summer).
Round 3: Seasoned Dallas looks hungry, as they are up 3-1 against the up and coming OKC. And the made-for-TV series has Miami up 3-1, as they show Chicago how games are won in the 4th quarter.
If things go as planned, Round 4, the NBA Finals, will feature Dallas and Miami.
With Dallas’ Dirk Nowizki lighting up the nets like the 2nd coming of Larry Bird, and Miami’s LeBron James filling up the stat sheet while taking over games in the 4th quarter like Magic Johnson, the NBA Finals will have us NBA fans glued to the flat screens while we politely take the phone off the hook for a couple hours each night.
Both of the last two nights of NBA action featured overtime games. Monday night, Nowizki went bonkers, as he poured in 40 points by never having the ball touch the net -- or so it seemed.
And last night, LeBron tossed in 35, and that wasn’t the impressive part. It was the way he totally shut down MVP Derick Rose in the 4th quarter that should remind people why he’s always on the NBA All Defensive Team.
Unless there’s some miracle in the next week, I’m excited to see ‘Bird vs Magic 2011 Style’ in this year’s NBA Finals.
