She’s thriving -- if the receipts from the national theater tour of Madea’s Happy Family is any indication. The public has exemplified an unquestionably ravenous appetite for the acid-tongued, gun-toting motherly figure who helps solve familial strife.
...”we know that Madea is not for everybody. And God bless you all,“...“But for the ones that love Madea, we’re going to keep bringing him out. So as long as you support us, we’ll support you.”
I'm definitely one of those 'not-for-everybody' guys!
Maybe not for everybody but Madea is more than character. The storyline tells a moral truth that today's urban audience can relate to. The stories are a portrait of real life. Hopefully, some of us can learn from the mistakes played out on screen. You can relate to real life can't you?
