CHESTER, PA- Mayor John A. Linder will host Chester’s 9th Annual Mayor’s Scholarship Awards Banquet recognizing the exemplary academic achievements of Chester’s 8th-12th grade students. Scholars will be awarded in several distinct categories highlighting those maintaining exceptional grade point averages and commitment to community service. Senior aged students were required to submit letters of recommendation, proof of acceptance to a four year accredited college or university, essays depicting their chosen career paths, skills acquired through post-secondary education, as well as, a plan to contribute to hometown progress. The banquet will be held Tuesday, June 3rd at the Willie Mae Leake Center, 7th and Yarnall Streets, Chester, Pennsylvania, from 6-9PM. Among the presentations, an inspirational message is to be delivered to attendees from Chester WorkReady Program graduate, and current City of Chester staff member, Ashley Pless, entitled ‘Making It Through, Despite Adversity’.
