ELECTION 2011: Change is Good?

Some say Change is Good. Some say they Fear Change.

The question we must ask ourselves in this election is -- Is Change for the Sake of Change Good or Fearful?
President Obama effectively used Change to propel his candidacy in 2008. Since that time, Change has become a popular buzzword for folks seeking political office.
In Chester’s case, I believe that a change of our city government would not be good for the city, at this time.
When we keep in mind that All Politics is Local, there has never been a better time to be a Republican in Chester. It’s critical that Chester remains politically connected to the party with the juice, at this time.
When we have a county run by Republicans, a Republican State Senate Majority Leader who lives in Chester, and a governor that is a Republican, how could anyone expect that a Democratic administration can be effective in Chester, at this time?
As the old folks say, you’d be ‘cutting off your nose to spite your face’, an expression use to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a situation - real or imagined.
There’s no way you can expect a new group of inexperienced leaders to thrive in a political environment where they can’t expect much support from the party in power.
More importantly, let’s not ignore the positive changes that have been happening in Chester in the past 10 years. This is no longer a city on the decline but one on a rapid rise. That’s the type of change we should be supporting.
You can go to the polls and vote for a change of party if you like. My fear is that it will create a situation where a lack of support from outside of Chester will retard Chester’s growth opportunities for years to come.
I’m not willing to take that risk. Are you?

  1. I'm glad this is only a blog and not like a legitimate article....I suppose we're entitled to our own opinions in a blog type format...but r u serious???? How do u put Obama in the same article as this pile of non-sense? You have contradicted your own message! If Obama had that attitude he wouldn't be in office. If we viewed him in that light he wouldn't be in office. And lets call a spade a spade commercial endeavors are nice...but the root of the evil in this city has not even been TOUCHED! Education is still up for grabs, crime is still a huge problem...the city still looks a mess. The cops are barely respectable or respected. City agencies arent working for the ppl on a day to day basis. No one is enforcing codes or ordinances its STILL the OK Corral around the city Chester. We're still the trash dump for Delaware County. There's a major industry that a large number of residents are shut out of because of past indiscretions (the casino). Chester is losing good law abiding citizens to Delaware, while the non-taxing paying criminals run amuck! Furthermore, why couldnt Chester use its size and to reshape Delaware County? Change the face of the machine instead of getting in line to play another round of step and fetch!!!!

  4. Great blog because only the ones that complain and don't stand up and do something are the ones doing the most talking about change. Chester is in the best position it have been in a very long time financially; however, remember the people makes Chester. So when you have people being quiet and not standing up for their community, while others run around and trash the areas. A close mouth don't get fed, so by being quiet you are part of the problem and not the solution. Stop waiting for someone to change things for you. Because when you want things in life you have to go get it by yourself. Things are not giving to you, so fight back for the city you love and use the resources giving to are city to make sure you make Chester a better place.

  7. My mistake...I thought the purpose was to state ur opinion. I didn't know I was to give suggestions to fix a situation. I'll comply... my simplest suggestion is to stick with the "buzzroad" Change and vote for Councilman Linder! He may be inexperienced but so was Obama. Mayor Butler had experience in crime fighting...we see how far experience gets us! (signed my name this time bc I don't like the undertone of Anonymous)

  8. Deneen. You didn't make a mistake. Opinions are welcome. But if you want to convince folks to vote for your candidate, it helps to offer specific facts that support what he brings to the table.

For the undecided voters out there, change and inexperience may not be enough to convince folks.

Remember, a lot of people fear change, and inexperience is hardly ever preferred over experience.

  9. Deneen, What has Councilman Linder done with the Health Department since he took over the department. He has been there for two years. PLEASE RESPOND. Obama was inexperienced but he had a track record Also Linder's whole team is inexperienced. Liz Williams does she have experience? If so in WHAT? Nafis will be incharge of a Department is he experienced? Please tell me WHAT HAS LINDER DONE as a Councilman? I am a DEM so I want to know. Look I have kids that love the soccer stadium my daughter wants to play soccer. PLEASE RESPOND

  11. You can just ask me how much I'm getting paid.

    Not a dime.

What are the chances of someone buying an ad on the blog for their candidate? I take checks, money orders, or cash. I can even provide a receipt.
