Chester Mayoral Debate Scheduled

Well.

I guess I should read my email before I go spouting off at the keyboard (See SURVEY RESULTS below).

There appears to be a Mayoral Debate scheduled for October 27. I’m not sure if the candidates have agreed to participate but check out the details below.

- Date/Time: October 27, 2011/ 7:00pm-8:30pm

- Venue: Widener University's Lathem Hall (200 seats)

- Hopeful prospective guests are incumbent Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. and Chester city councilman John A. Linder.

Sponsoring Organizations include:  Inner City Alliance, The League of Women's Voters, NAACP Chester Branch, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Chester Alumnae Branch, College Republicans of Widener, Young Democrats of Widener and  NAACP Widener Branch.

Our hope is for a city mayoral campaign focused on issues, not personalities, not style.  A robust debate between the candidates will further that goal.  Also, the debate will serve as a vehicle to educate residents on the issues of their city, and to encourage them to take part in the local government.
