A first-timer's guide to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

Everyone knows that July 4th weekend in New Orleans is when the Essence Music Fest takes place. 

But, if you happened to be in NOLA in late April - early May, like I was a few years ago, you definitely want to go to the Jazz Fest.

You won’t have the luxury of assigned seats or air-conditioning like you do at the Superdome party put on by Essence, so be prepared to brave the New Orleans elements as you will mill around the Fair Grounds and go from stage to stage while eating some of the best food in the world. 

I wasn’t in New Orleans for the Jazz Fest, but when I stumbled on it, it was one of the best times I ever had.
