I’ll admit that I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I know what I hear.
At the last two council meetings, when they announced new appointments, they disclosed the appointee's start date, title, name, address, salary, the length of their probation period, and for some, the fact that they will not receive benefits.
Can anyone help me with this one?
In all my years of work, the benefit package includes vacation, sick time, insurance, 401k, health, vision, dental, etc.
If you’re hired as an independent contractor, the city doesn’t have to provide benefits, but can they do this for full time employees?
It’s probably just the way it’s being read in council. They’re making it sound like some new appointments are not going to receive benefits as full time employees.
I really think they mean that they’re not receiving benefits during their probation period...I hope.
Your benefits dont usually start until you complete your probation period.

DeleteFrom what I have been reading resently the new administration need some training in the field of communication. I've always heard "Say what you mean and mean what you say". Let's hope they will get themselves together and with the help from the citizens, and God, when they say things or do thing that is not pleasing to the citizens, someone will be able to make suggestions (and they will listen) to whomever the persom is that's responsible for communications so that these miscommunications don't take place. This administration or any new administration is under the microscope for quite some time until they prove themselves capable. Help them don't just critize them. They will get better if they really and truly want to and care about their position as a servant. Mrs. Elenor Roosevelt once said: "You have to love the people to serve the people".
