Chester-Upland School District Convocation 2010

  1. Great speeches does not net great results.

I see the mayor and kirkland saying great things and asking and requiring the bar be lifted higher, yet politics and philosophy got chester into the mess it is in.

I looked with great sadness yesterday at how the police were made to be traffic cops for the stadium and game when those could have been jobs for the people. Dont we deserve something for ourselves! Who is minding the streets while paid civil servants become crossing guards...now there's a thought...give school crossing guards this opportunity while our streets are "foot patrolled" by paid civil servants.

I looked at how the stadium bring out-of-towners who either leave the city after the game or go to the casino, but very little revenue is realized among the small business in Chester. Delco Times suggested in one article that "blight in Chester was the result of the democratic agenda." Unfortunately for that writer others see and know that the city is republican controlled and a strong hold for the republican party and blight is the result of a non-caring political machine.

Great speeches do not net great results. It is time the people put their heart into the reinvesting, reenergizing and restoration of the city. Its not about good speeches, but what you do after the speech is given!

Ps: Wendell, homegrown is not the word to use when we look at what the city have produced have come from home. Where was Palleggi? He care so much...oops dont have time for black people except at the polls! Nah yall be sure to hurry and put that man back in office so he can keep away from yall nah hear!

  2. Anonymous your comments are so true. As I sat watching this event, something churned in the pit of my stomach. Others in the audience made some comments. The last speaker left off with the word "Hope". We sure need it. Although "homegrown", somehow I don't have a good feeling about this new administration. You get the feeling that something is always missing, a "Soul". Their words are always so empty. They have no souls.

  3. I recently had a conversation with someone from Chester who works in Philadelphia. They said that they tried to get a job in the district but they are not a republican. I was astounded by the comment. Do you have to be a republican to work for this district?
