Chester boys basketball (13-3) defeat Glen Mills

Chester's senior combo of  Mahir Johnson and Tyrell Sturdivant combined for 41 points as the Clippers sailed past the Battlin' Bulls 69-40 at the Clip Joint. With the win Chester improved to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in league play.

Junior Keyonte Watkins joined his teammates in double figure with 12 points; scoring in each quarter. This marks the third time in the last five games that Watkins has come off the bench to reach double figures. Sophomore Marquis Collins, the Clippers 6'7" wing, came off the bench to lead the team in rebounds  with 11. This marked his first double digit rebound game since his 14 rebound game in December.

After a slow start Chester would lead 11-6 at the end of the first quarter and that would be the closest Glen Mills would get the rest of the contest. Johnson would score 6 of his 19 points as the Clippers outscored their opponents 17-11 in the second for a 28-16 halftime advantage.

In the 3rd quarter, Sturdivant dropped 9 of his game high 22 points as Chester stretched their lead to 22 points with the score at 52-30. Chester used five different players to score their final 17 points in the 4th. The other Chester points came from Conrad Chambers (5), Marquis Collins (4), Khaleeq Campbell (3) and Gabe Adesina & Brewster Ward each contributing 2 points. Sophomore Khaleeq Campbell also produced a career high with 5 steals.

The Clippers will return to action on Friday, January 31st for their final regular season home game at the Clip Joint with the Chichester Eagles come to visit. This is the game that was rescheduled due to a snow storm.
