  1. With fewer positive male role models of color available in the places we once found them as kids (administrators, deacons, mailmen, local business owners, fathers, extended family & neighbors) who knew our names and took interest in our children, an initiative like this sounds like an invaluable opportunity. Mentorship from a grown man in your area can be very impactful to a young man's perception of possibilities for his life. I hope the community stands behind this vision and mothers push their boys to participate. A great idea is just a great idea until people support. Support can bring immeasurable change.
