Chester Republican’s endorse Sisters

Shakirah
Shakuwra

The Chester Republican’s announced their slate of candidates for the upcoming May primaries last night. For what may be a first in area politics, two sisters are among the endorsed candidates.

Shakirah and Shakuwra Randolph will run for City Council and School Board respectively.

On January 12, they were featured in the Daily Times for their Sisters Foundation, a grassroots organization designed to promote unity among young women and empower youth. They were each Chester High School class presidents in 2006 and 2007 and they are both college graduates.

It’s exciting to see the local Republican’s embrace a newer, younger slate of candidates who have the ability to connect to the population of citizens who feel disconnected by the old ways of Chester politics.

According to a recent Chester City Blog survey, folks aren’t too happy with the Linder administration. It will be exciting to see if the new Republican youth movement is the answer Chester is looking for.

    1. Unfortunately, I didn't take my recorder when they expressed their platforms. I think you.would have been impressed with their clear and concise 'views'. The Chester Community Spirit and Daily Times were there. Maybe those real reporters took notes and will share.
I guess you've never voted for a Chester candidate unless they were in the Linder-Butler debate. That's the only time Ive heard someone express a view. Even when they knock on doors, all I've ever heard from a candidate is 'I'd love to have your support.'

  7. MASTER??!!!! The reason this city does not progress is because of uneducated, ignorant views such as the master comment. Thats all there ever is on here, YAP YAP YAP YAPPITY YAP YAP. This so called master you speak of doesn't have to lift a finger to oppress you, you do that on your own right here on this blog. Stop talking and walk the walk, oh I'm sorry, talkers don't know how to walk, they let the walkers do it for them. Hope you get it.

    1. Sure nice to hear people say they want to hear platforms. In my 7 years of Chester community journalism, that term never came up. Candidates have been running on party or personality. Maybe this year they'll actually have to talk to the people to get their vote.

I'll publish all platforms if candidates would like to send them.

    1. How observant of you. Now we'll get to choose among young people, not just old people.

  15. Just because they both are pretty and have a college degree don't make them qualified for the job.

    1. They were obviously qualified to be selected by the party. It's up to you to determine if they are qualified to serve.
