CUSD Community Partnership Team?

I question anyone even wanting to be a part of such a committee when he openly said to the press that they will not have any bearing on the decisions being made. I see this as some form of rubber- stamping his program to the community.

I was going to let this story go until I read Bill Riley’s editorial this morning. As much as I agree with Mr. Riley that this Community Partnership Team is nothing but window dressing, I’m intrigued how it’s politically decorated.

Mr. Riley points out the historically troubling connection between the school district and city politics. If there was ever a time for a wedge to be inserted between the two, it would be now.

Comically, Mr. Receiver (formerly Mr. Recovery), a staunch republican, appoints a community team of mostly democrats, and many of them have nothing to do with education.

Not only do I have the same sentiment as Mr. Riley regarding anyone’s desire to be on such a committee, I also wonder who rejected the invitation to join.

All of the appointees are decent people in their respective positions, but as a group, I’ll be curious to see how this works out.
