Chester's Trash Recycling policy

I took another peek at the city website and here's what I found:

From http://chestercity.com/index.php/city-departments/streets-highway

Recycling
It is now mandatory that all residents separate newspaper, aluminum and metal cans, and glass from their regular trash. Put bundled newspaper in the red recycling containers along side of the blue recycling container. Read more on how to recycle household hazardous waste.
I assume the 'now' this statement refers to is February 8, 2012 when this web page was created.

Recycling Containers
Containers for all City residents are available to be picked up at City Hall, 1 Fourth Street, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
For those of you who work during those hours, don't worry about it. I think City Hall is closed on Saturday and Sunday. In fact, if you don't recycle, don't worry about it. It's not enforced.

Recycling Collection
Recyclables should be placed at the same location from which your regular trash is collected. Collection begins at 7:00 am, every Wednesday. If a major holiday is observed during any week, recyclables should be held until the following Wednesday.
If the trash collector gets paid for a full days work on Wednesday, they are stealing money.

  1. I'm glad you took the time to look, because I have been back in this city for almost 6yrs and they have not adhered to any recycling collection as of today...the one time they did collect it was a trash truck and they dumped everything it together and crushed it like the do the regular trash....go figure.
