Chester Upland School District goes to court – Again

The majority of CUSD board members didn’t support Mr. Recovery’s plan and have gone to court to challenge the logic in the state’s assertion that the school district is financially distressed.

I still haven’t got an answer to how Mr. Recovery’s came up with the claim that the district will go from a $3.2 million deficit to $181 million in 5 years. Today’s article states the district has a small surplus and can pay their bills. Somebody is lying.

Maybe the courts will uncover how he comes up with these numbers and justification for some of the other items in his recovery plan.

Even the judge seemed to agree that there are good arguments on the school district side. We’ll see how he decides in the next 10 days.

  2. I here you, but I'm conserned that a well pay attorney would stand before a judge and argue over $3,000 surplus? You need more in reserve than that to runa household! His bill alone will eat that up!

    1. I don't think the argument is over $3000, but I was led to believe CUSD was deep in the red by millions.

  4. in the game for what? they did not listen to any adjustments we asked for. how r u going to have the children come back to the district if you keep combining the schools. My daughter goes to STEM and i will leave the district if they moved STEM to 9th and Barclay. They want to CUT 70 teachers, sports programs, and raise taxes to the highest amount until 2017 and THERE PLAN HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE IN THE USA. Our dumb behinds vote along party lines to prove a point. Its not rocket science there are a lot of parents that live in the district that want a quality education for their child. If you have a EDUCATIONAL ACADEMY (PREP SCHOOL) the kids would come back. Dont put the "good student" in with the "bad student". BUT ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY not the kids so i am wasting my time.
