Could Pat Worrell be Chester’s next Mayor?

If there is really a rift between the Kirklands and Linders, could Pat Worrell emerge as a challenger to John Linder in the mayoral democratic primary of 2015?

In her challenge of entrenched Senator Dominic Pileggi, Worrell gathered 10,000 Chester votes and 55,000 total votes to Linder’s 2008 totals against the same Dominic Pileggi - 9,500 Chester, 53,000 total.

Clearly, there probably won’t be 10,000 Chester voters in the 2015 mayor’s primary and the votes would be split between the two.

If the primary was today, who do you favor?

  3. Like REALLY? Are you for real?? It would be Kirkland's puppet that he would be able to have more control over, unless he made her mad and you know what they say about a woman's scorned. Then he may have someone to contend with. The thought of all of that is almost laughable. What a mess it already is. The only reason she got so many votes to begin with is because it was a presidential election and everyone pushes the D button. They don't think about who they are voting for, what their record is, what the person is all about, they vote the party. In an election between Linder and Worrell, and that's the choice I had to make, I would choose Linder.

  7. I agree with Anonymous 7:08 AM, that the only way Pat Worrell got so many votes is because it was a presidential election. Most Chester folks were voting for Presendent Obama and voted straight DEM rather than split their votes, also the other factor is that not so many folks in Chester like Pileggi. However, I would not vote for Pat Worrell or reelected John Linder for Mayor of Chester. We need to see a new face that knows Chester. I would even consider bringing back Wendell Butler - he did a good job for Chester with a lot of style and had very little controversy between him and his council.

  8. Anonymous. 1:54..agreed..given a true choice, I would definitely choose someone completely different. This Mayor and most of council are a joke. Taking the city of Chester back to the lean years and managed to do it in under a year. Wow! The citizens wanted change, there you go! But even if they raise taxes, its the homeowners that will have to pay. When you think about the amount of section 8 renters in the city, it doesn't seem quite fair to the mostly seniors that own their home. This administration sure knows how to spend but has no idea how to balance that budget. God help us!

  14. Mayor Linder probably won't run for re-election because he even said he doesn't want to be a career politician. I think everyone just loves to complain so much. Every Mayor had flaws. Until our residents educate themselves on politics and how to vote nothing will change. Pat Worrell is a good person with a good heart...it doesn't matter where she's from...she's genuinely for the people.
