Unless you are a basketball player, there is no reason to pay over $100 for a pair of sneakers, is there?
In my opinion, Nike is launching a test case to see how much the market will bear with the LeBron X.
NBA’s Stephon Marbury came out with a $15 sneaker that he actually played games in while on the NY Knicks, but they were not too popular among the cool guys. The last time I wore my pair, the bus driver asked me if they were Prada. Too funny!
The National Urban League is urging Nike to drop the LeBron X sneakers. I don’t think that’s right only because there are a lot of overpriced products and services that are worthy of attack which millions more people are more likely to purchase than a pair of $315 sneakers.
Cable TV, heath insurance and college tuition cost too much, but the Urban League goes public protesting a pair of sneakers most people will never buy.
I’ll never buy a pair of $315 sneakers, but a few people will. A lot of people wouldn’t buy a 26” Apple Mac, but I did. (I wish that thing cost $315).
It’s all about your priorities, disposable income, needs, and impulse discipline. People will buy what they want to buy and will either experience buyer’s remorse or not.
If the streets want it, they’ll buy the LeBron X. The LeBron XI will certainly be $500.
Start saving now.
You are so right people will buy what they want to buy at any cost. I would rather see a pair of sneakers brought then a gun.
