Is Buono Brothers Bakery Closing?

Since 1956, Buono Brothers has been making fine Italian rolls and other baked goods in Chester. Almost every hoagie roll and kaiser roll we eat comes from that bakery off of Rt 291.

Rumor has it, Buono Brothers is calling it quits and have joined up with another commercial bakery. Operations in the Chester bakery are rumored to be cut back substantially, if not ceased all together.

It's only a rumor, so take this information with a grain of poppy seed. Comment if you know more.

  2. Amoroso's has be them out for years. I hope not, we remember what happened to Medfords after Hatfields took over. The product changed and then the brand disappeared. Amoroso's roll can't touch the rolls from Buono!

    1. They are not closing. They have cut back on baking considerably. They retained their drivers and laid off the bakery staff. A lot of locals lost their jobs and nothing has been said about it.

    2. BUONO BROS has been bought by Dambrosio bakery ( gatehouse holdings ) and all baking operations have been moved to 31st and reed ( philly ). The bakery itself is temporarily being used as a drop off for bread but no baking is going on.

    3. Buono Brothers is still open for business and operating under the same ownership as always. The Chester location is still open and open to the public to purchase breads.
