Important Message from United Way

IMPORTANT MEETING MAY 17-18.

To United Way Campaign Supporters and Corporate Partners;  it’s time to come together.

My name is Bo Sanders, your Campaign Director at the United Way of Southeast Delaware County (soon to be the United Way of Delaware County). I’m contacting you because of the new direction and campaign shift the United Way is moving towards and has completed. Many of you, heard or read about the Regional United Ways merging last week and we were included. I feel everyone should have the opportunity to meet with me and discuss our new direction. I’m holding a meeting at my office to discuss the United Way Regional Merger and Volunteer opportunities (please see the below date and information). I also would like to take this opportunity to ask for volunteers for a service event and fundraising project created by Swarthmore College which benefits our United Way (we need your help).

As a leader in your company, you’re always the first to take action to improve the lives in our Delaware County community and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  All of us are affected by the many changes happening in Delaware County and in our local community. Public sector funding is shrinking and more cuts are anticipated, even as the unemployment rate in PA is below the national average (7.5%) however, the economy is still moving slowly. Therefore, we must continue to work hard and smart to provide the resources the community needs. Again, the purpose of this email is to inform you of the meeting and ask for your help.

How can you help? You can help by joining with many organizations  and corporate partners, like (Wells Fargo, Sun East Federal, Kimberly-Clark, Crozer Keystone, Comcast and Delco Chamber of Commerce); each of these businesses demonstrate there Corporate Social Responsibility by publicly embrace the challenges in our community and they lead by asking their employees to get involved in the community by Volunteering. One of my many roles at the United Way is to provide the platform for this to happen. There are many ways to get involved however, there’s only one solutions and that’s “take action”. Right now we need volunteers for the Trash 2 Treasures fundraiser event at Swarthmore College, starting June 3rd – 9th 2012. In addition, we are looking for committee members for the upcoming 2012-2013 Campaign Cabinet, Councils, Student United Ways, Young Professionals, Advisory groups and Special events.

Here’s the plan of Action; I’m holding meetings (May 17th and May 18th). First, email or call me if you, your co-workers, neighbors, or family members would like to volunteer. Consult with your HR Department, Office Manager, and CEO or ask your staff. Topics of Discussion;

·        Volunteering Opportunities
·        Networking
·        Community Partnership
·        United Ways Regional Merger

It is my goal to focus our efforts to ensure, we are best supporting the work each campaign supporter in Delaware County is providing for our community.

I look forward to hearing from all of you and everyone you ask to get involved.
Best Regards,

Bo Sanders
Campaign Director
