Chester High School Basketball Banquet today?

At the Upland Diner this morning, someone asked me if I was going to the banquet today? The conversation when something like this.
“You going to the banquet?”
“What banquet?”
“The basketball banquet?”
“What basketball banquet?”
“You’re the news guy. You’re suppose to know everything that’s going on.”
“What basketball banquet?”
“Chester High.”
“No one told me about the banquet. Of course I would have been there. Unless I get a call or email, how would I know.”
“You’re just supposed to know.”
It amazes me how so many people think that I know everything that’s going on. Folks will send press releases, letters, and phone calls to the Daily Times and tell me that I should have read about this or that in the paper.
Sorry, I don’t read any paper cover to cover everyday.
Please don’t blame me for not attending your events if you don’t let me know about your event. If I can’t make it, I’ll let you know. Right through here, I can make almost any event.

Yes, the back-2-back state championship banquet was held last night. We advertised it via various venues. It was a great turnout and a great evening for our boys. So sorry you missed it. Next time, I'll send you a personal invite.

    1. Thank you. Send photos. Send a story. Where was it advertised?

I'll send pix to your email address. It's a given that there will be a banquet after each season (just a known fact in the city), especially after a huge accomplishment like an undefeated, back-2-back season like this one. The Boys Club sent out several email blasts, it was on every social network site, we sold banquet tix at the Mother's Day Parade, & at the Boys Club every Tuesday & Thursday

      for the past couple months.

    4. OK. Have never known about banquets until they're over. I didn't go to the parade. Don't go to the Boys and Girls Club. Must not be on the email blast list. Not on social media much. Wouldn't know what to look for if I was.

I'd be happy to plug the banquet for free in the future to the few hundred daily readers who visit here.

      Get me in the loop.
