Mayor John Linder plants trees in Sun Village

Hon. Mayor John Linder and Council took part in the inaugural spring planting of five-hundred new trees, the final fifteen of which were placed inside Sun Village Park this past Saturday.

Thanks to the preparatory efforts of The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, The Chester Economic Development Authority, and The City of Chester, with the aid of several Harrah’s Casino Staff and Widener University volunteers, each tree was planted and given adequate water to begin adapting to its new location in the park.
Mayor Linder, Councilwoman Liz Williams, and Councilwoman Portia West were on hand at Sun Village Park in Chester City getting their first looks at the enhanced landscape, and lending a hand in planting efforts.
Mayor Linder explained, “It is vital to have not only the grants available, but also folks as passionate about our environment as Lisa Gaffney [CEDA], and our students from Widener, among all of you who dedicate yourselves to beautification on this Earth Day weekend.”
