City say OK to hire from outside Chester

Chester folks constantly harp about the lack of job opportunities here. Yet, at today’s city council meeting, it was announced that the city can now hire qualified candidates who reside outside of the city...and has done so to fill spots in the new administration.
That’s a surprising development coming from the Linder Team of Change.
For the qualified Chester residents and the young folks coming out of school, that decision is discouraging for those who may have wanted to stay in Chester and serve.

    1. Several people and more counting.
No one from the City of Chester, but you have to live in the City to work in the city.
      Check the Ordinances and Resolutions.

  3. When they announced the new Director of Communications, they gave her New Jersey address and mentioned that it's now okay to hire qualified people from outside the city.

I was told that the chief of staff has a Wilmington address, but I don't know that for sure.

  4. The Solicitor and Assistant Solicitor that they hired aren't Chester residents either.

  6. I heard some of the new hires are temporary for the transition and Chester residents working with those individuals will be trained to serve in those positions.

Why don't we give Mayor Linder and his team a chance.

    1. Mayor Linder got a chance, he was elected. As with everyone in his shoes, every move will - and should - be questioned, scutinized, justified, explained. No one gets a pass.

  8. I hear a special city council meeting will be held on Friday where they will open the budget. A great opportunity to ask the salary questions.

  10. Did they even consider posting the jobs to see if there are qualified residents to fill the positions. I guess the new jobs that were promised are going to outsiders. I hope this works if not I will be very dissapointed in the elected officials.
