As a Chester community quasi-journalist for the past 6 years, I have never used my paper or blog to endorse a party or candidate. In fact, most candidates have ignored my publications during elections so I never felt obligated. (Senator Pileggi and Rosetta Carter were the only exceptions).
With so much at stake in the November election, I’ve decided that this is the time for the Chester City Blog to step up and make an endorsement.
Like in the past, neither campaign has approached me to support them in any fashion, so you can rest assured that my endorsement is based on my own personal assessment of what I believe is best for the city of Chester.
Drum roll please...
Over the next four weeks, I will present my opinions on why the Republican Party is in the best position to lead Chester for the next four years.
In an era where personalities often trump politics, when I objectively focus on pure politics, I find that the Chester Republican administration has the resources, connections, talent, experience, momentum, and track record to keep Chester growing.
And isn’t that what we all want?
To try to assemble a new city government administration with a group of new leaders would likely disrupt the favorable support coming to Chester from the county, state, and national level.
I could be wrong, but for me, changing administrations when momentum is going in the right direction is taking a serious chance.
I’m not a gambler, but the sure bet for Chester is to keep the continuity of the existing Republican administration.
My opinion is that a new administation with a new group of leaders will not disrupt anything favorable to our City. That's just like saying when a new President is elected he comes in and disrupt what the last President was doing. For so many years it has been about the Republican but the last election shows that people are more ready for something new. if not the Republicans would still be way ahead. Mayor Butler has did a swell job over the years but he's tired; its time for him to sit down.
ReplyDeleteA new administration may not disrupt the favorable things going on in the city. The real question is how confident are voters that a new administration will be effective at keeping the city moving forward and not backward or staying the same?
ReplyDeleteThe city is dependent on a lot of outside resources to keep growing. I don't see a lot of those resources supporting Democratic administrations at this time.
If Mayor Butler has done a swell job, what makes you think he won't continue to do a swell job? What is he tired of? How does his sitting down help Chester?
