Chester is Ramping Up

The sun is shining down on Chester and its new ramps

To the average Chester resident, those new ramps on the Commodore Barry Bridge may not seem like much, unless you’ve lived near the construction zone for the past 3 years dealing with the construction traffic, dust, and noise.
Chester is a difficult city to navigate through and these ramps help out a lot.
Over the years, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked by visitors, “How do I get to I-95?” Usually, I have to ask them if they are going North or South and start directing them through the maze of Chester streets from there.
Now, I'll send them to 2nd Street (Rt 291), point them toward the bridge, and they’ll find the ramp to I-95 which will take them North or South. So much easier.
And, you can’t sneeze at the fact that some outsiders all agreed to spend $77 million dollars to put those ramps in Chester without asking us residents to pay a dime.
Who will ultimately benefit? Us Chester folks.
One of the main considerations businesses have when they locate to your city is access. With the opening of these ramps, access in and out of Chester has improved tremendously.
The long term planning by our city government to get this city back on its feet is rapidly paying dividends day by day.
(If only someone would include me in their press releases of events like this. I would have loved to have been there for the ribbon cutting had I known the time and place that it was going on)

  1. There are press releases for things happening in Chester? Man, it's almost like the city is organized.

  2. Yeah. Occassionaly there are press releases. You'd think that same people who let the Daily Times know would have let me know.

I guess I'm just not that important.
