Widener Kicks Off a New Season of Stargazing

Widener University Observatory offers free public viewings

CHESTER, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2011) — The Widener University Observatory has resumed its public stargazing sessions. All are invited to see the stars, planets and other celestial wonders using the observatory’s 12- and 16-inch computerized reflecting telescopes. Widener astronomy professors, with assistance from undergraduate students, will be on hand to offer assistance.

Upcoming stargazing sessions include Monday twilight viewings on Sept. 19 and 26 from 8-9 p.m. and Oct. 3, 10 and 24 from 7-8 p.m. In addition, the observatory will host a Friday evening session on Oct. 7 from 8-9 p.m.

The viewings will run throughout the 2011-12 academic year on Monday nights and one Friday night a month.
