Do We Really Need a Chicken Wing at 2am?

Urban violence is a nationwide problem, and Chester suffers with finding solutions like so many other places like ours.
One potential solution is to put a curfew on Chester take-out restaurants.
The only restaurants brave enough to stay open are foreign owned and they protect themselves behind bullet-proof windows at the counter.
Customers are forced to stand around while waiting for their food since most of them do not provide seats.
As a result, dozens of people normally congregate at these places as late as 4am ordering chicken wings and Pepsi.
Why can’t these stores be forced to close by midnight?
Would it help?

  2. You don't want to shut down a legitimate business. But there should be some way to regulate their hours of operation.

  3. Making the businesses close would just send people elsewhere which doesn't really solve the problem. We should look at the reasons why people turn to these behaviors and try to eliminate them.

But I do agree, why are you up at 4am eating unless you are coming from/going to work??

  4. Thats the point. Close takeouts at midnight in chester so folks go eat somewhere else...like home. Or, head to Dennys or Tom Jones.

You won't have the same issues at a sit-in restaurant.

  6. I agree these places should not be allowed to stay open late. Let them have to go somewhere else to get something to eat and I do believe they will not act like they been acting here in Chester.

  7. I disagree it’s not the businesses causing the problems. Its people making dumb decision that’s hurting everyone one else. If you want to close these restaurants early then close all the bars, clubs, etc in the city.

  8. Of course its the people making dumb decisions.

Bars and clubs differ for these reasons.
    1. They must close at 2am
    2. Patrons drink and eat inside the bar, not on the sidewalk or parking lot.
    3. Bars don't attract teens.
    4. Bars usually have security.

Most shootings occur on the street, not inside. If we can keep people from congregating outside late at night, we may be better off.
