Chester, PA – On Wednesday, August 24, 2011 the City of Chester is holding a Pre-Career Fair Event to help prepare residents for the City’s upcoming Career Fair to be held on September 14. For the event, there will be two sessions on Wednesday, August 24, 2011; 10:00 am-12:00 pm, Chester PA CareerLink, 701 Crosby Street, Chester, PA 19013 and 5:00-7:00 pm at Chester City Hall, 1 Fourth Street, Chester, PA 19013.
In recent times, our nation has faced one of the most difficult economic times in history. Many have been personally affected and are currently seeking employment. For this reason, the city is working hard to not only bring new jobs to Chester through economic development but also help residents tap into those opportunities.
“With so many new jobs in and around Chester, it is important that residents are aware of these opportunities. But opportunities are not guarantees,” said Mayor Wendell N. Butler, Jr. “As residents, we need to be able to compete successfully for these jobs. Many have done just that, others have had difficulty. For this reason, I established the Workforce Development Center to provide residents with resources that can help them find and keep a job.”
Seminars will cover the topic areas of resume building, preparing for an interview, and dressing for success. Career specialists will be on site and available to assist and answer questions from the Chester Workforce Development Center, CityTeam, Community Action Agency of Delaware County and PA CareerLink. Those planning to attend the upcoming Chester career fair, are strongly encouraged to attend this event to make sure they are fully prepared and can work to be the best candidate for the job.
For more information, residents can contact Workforce Coordinator Robert Wrease at the Workforce Development Center at 610-447-1424 or email rwrease@chestercity.com.
