Chester's Teen Captures People's Choice Honor

On August 7, 2011, history was made as Chester's Amari Stewart competed in the Miss Black Talented Teen USA 2011 pageant, where she competed against representatives from across the United States. The pageant was held in Washington, DC, with the goal of providing scholarships to young teens.

Competing on the platform of AML Leukemia, Amari did not come home empty handed as she captured the prestigious “People’s Choice” honor.

Previously, on December 11, 2010, Amari made history as the first Miss Black Pennsylvania Talented Teen USA winner.

Amari says, “This was a once in a lifetime experience and there are no words to describe it, you just have to strive for the chance to experience it for yourself”.
“The Miss Black Talented Teen USA pageant was a perfect opportunity for Amari to meet people, and whether she wins or loses, she learns about herself and possibly gains friendships for life”, State Director Desiree Potts says.
