Chester enacts Statewide Blight Act 90

CHESTER — City Council passed an ordinance Wednesday that will allow city officials to take stronger actions against property owners who let their properties deteriorate.

The ordinance implements provisions outlined in the Neighborhood Blight Reclamation and Revitalization Act, passed by the State Legislature last October. The bill allows officials to deny permits and approvals for serious code violations and sanction property owners for not adhering to their legal obligations.
