The district unveiled its preliminary budget Wednesday. Facing large proposed state funding cuts, the $92 million budget includes significant cuts, including up to 40 percent of the district’s teaching force. Support staff is slated to be cut by 50 percent, operational support by 53 percent, classroom support by 18 percent and administrative staff by 13 percent.

The first community meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke’s Community Church, 320 Tilghman St., in Chester. The second meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Upland Borough Hall, 224 Castle St., in Brookhaven. A public hearing will be hosted June 16 at 6 p.m. at Chester High School, 232 W. Ninth St., in Chester.


Copies of the preliminary budget can be picked up at the District Administration Office beginning at noon Tuesday.
