Chester heads to District Finals

Chester fans don't come out during the season because the boy's basketball team blows so many opponents out of the gym resulting in a boring night of basketball. Not the case last night at the Villanova Pavillion as Neshaminy played the Clippers close.

With Villanova head coach Jay Wright on the sideline watching his signee, Neshaminy guard Ryan Arcidiacono, he saw his future guard pressured all night as he only made 4 field goals and added a few ugly turnovers. Without a doubt, Wright had to be impressed with the aggressive Chester defense.

Neshaminy were no slouch on defense either, forcing Chester into a half court game with a tough 2-3 defense, while limiting Chester to very few fastbreak opportunites.

Chester, normally not referee friendly, benefited from over 30 foul shot attempts as their big guys attacked the basket all night, especially in the 4th quarter where their size wore down Neshamity.

Despite Chester's lack of a floor leader at point guard, they were patient on offense, protected the ball, and involved everyone with a lot of perimeter passing. Fortunately, they were surprising effecient dropping 3-pointers from all over the court to keep them in the game in the first 3 quarters.

It was nice to see Chester find a way to win on a night where they did not dominated their opponent.

At the end of the first game, the Council Rock student section chanted, "We Want Chester!" All I have to say to that is, watch what you ask for. Chester will beat Council Rock by 20, easy.
