I’m not one for sharing bad news, or negative stories, on a regular basis.
However, earlier this week, I read the saddest article I’ve ever come across.
If you can stomach a human horror story, read this article and share your thoughts, since I can’t find the words to express mine.

I saw that on the cover of the Daily News a few days ago and meant to look it up but forgot, thanks for posting it. It is indeed a very sad story, numbing actually and what is more shameful is the lack of compassion by people. 115,000 is nothing compared to someone's life and without an apology on top of that! I would have never settled.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, she was tresspassing. If she was found in the house before it was razed she could have been arrested.
ReplyDeleteThe sad parts:
PHA not checking the house first.
Allegedly, no one checking on Ms Barnes daily.
Although her son got her an apartment, she appeared to be too mentally ill to live alone.
The settlement does seem low but holding out for more money may not have been a good option.
The saddest part is the PHA lawyers saying Ms. Barnes did not suffer in the accident.
The lesson learned is to check in on your sick and/or elderly parents regularly. If you can afford it, sometimes nursing homes are the best option if they can't be checked on.
