Wachovia awards $400,000 to over 375 local non-profits in Pennsylvania and Delaware
Through the Community Partners Program, each Wachovia store manager selects a deserving grassroots organization working in the community where that store is located to receive an unsolicited $1000 grant. The grants are then awarded at regional events where grant recipients and store managers come together. Launched last year, Wachovia’s Community Partners Program is one element in the company’s comprehensive approach to community support, which includes employee contributions to non-profits, employee volunteerism and corporate grants. Wachovia’s employees in Greater Philadelphia/Delaware donated almost $650, 000 to non-profits through the company’s 2010 Community Support campaign and volunteered over 19, 000 hours of service in 2009.
“We are pleased to support these organizations that are delivering much-needed services in a stellar fashion to our local communities,” said Vince Liuzzi, Regional President for Greater Philadelphia and Delaware. “Our Community Partners program was developed to recognize key local organizations that are doing the kind of work that makes a daily difference in the lives of people, house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood. It’s our way of thanking them for making our communities a better place to live.”
