3 New Homes being built by Habitat for Humanity in Chester



Habitat for Humanity of Delaware County Kicks Off NSP Project

Today's ceremony marks participation in the nation’s most-significant housing program since the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and the Mayor of Chester declared October 29th “Habitat for Humanity Day” across Chester.

Habitat for Humanity of Delaware County kicked off its participation in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program(NSP)—the most significant housing initiative since the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974—by announcing the construction of three (3) affordable housing units on the sight of the former (and blighted) Detroit Apartment Complex. 

Since 1994, Habitat for Humanity of Delaware County has been building and rehabbing homes in Chester. This year, Habitat has five housing units—on two separate sites—under constructionin Chester, with an additional six units planned for construction in 2011 and 2012.
