This event will highlight the importance of education and increasing peace amongst the students and people living in the community of Chester. This effort will compliment the “Anti-Violence” initiative in Chester City. We believe this event will reach out to all ages (young and old) and groups living in the city of Chester. Chester is a city that takes pride in its athletics, especially basketball, and this showcase will allow people to demonstrate their C-Pride while receiving an important message. This event will also send the same message to neighboring boroughs, cities, and townships. We believe that education and sports can bring people together as one with the right message being delivered.
The event is in the honor of Mrs. Carsarraine Blackwell, lifelong resident of Chester City and educator of the Chester Upland School District. She strongly believed in educating and uplifting inner city youth and helping them understand the importance of gaining an education along with staying free of violence. Sonny Hill also believes in helping inner city youth to understand the importance of education and demonstrates this through his basketball league.
