Did you Hear Mayor Butler on WHYY radio?

If it wasn't for Twitter and Desire Grover, I would have never come across this interview. How many of you listened to it? How many of you knew it was aired?

Here's the overview of the 1 hour interview from Sunday, July 13.

Parts of the small city of Chester are under curfew in response to a series of murders earlier this summer. Those murders, with victims including a 2-year-old child, competed for headlines with the successful debut of Chester’s major league soccer team, the Philadelphia Union, with the stadium the latest of the city’s ambitious redevelopment efforts that include Harrah’s casino. Joining us to discuss the murders, the city’s response and what else is going on in Chester is Mayor WENDELL N. BUTLER JR., the city’s former police chief. Then we’ll talk to Delaware County District Attorney G. MICHAEL GREEN about the challenge of prosecuting the violence in Chester, and what his office is doing about it. Then, we’ll hear from two people working at the grass-roots to address the violence in Chester: NICOLE COGDELL, president of Women of Strength United for Change, which advocates on behalf of victims’ families and for crime prevention; and JANET S. RILEY-FORD, program coordinator of the Chester Youth Collaborative.

  1. So I didn't know that Mayor Butler was guesting on this radio show or any radi show for that matter, I am sure he did his best to try to quash some of the misinformation and misunderstanding of the SOE, which I have been telling people since it started, but people only hear what they want to hear...he(the Mayor) is being very guarded about what happens next once the curfew is over, I for one am among the citizens that have been enjoying the peace in my neighbrhood, even though my neighborhood isn't one of the areas under the curfew. The D.A. was informative about what his part is in this and is going to be, but I hope the Mayor got paid for his endorsment of Harrah's when asked about what positive things are happening ing Chester because he sounded like a paid endorser for the Casino...(See that was the only cloely negative thing I had to say about that interview)
