Chester YouthBuild program seeking $150K to stay afloat

Since opening its doors in 1994, the program has helped more than 300 youth obtain either a high school diploma or GED through a curriculum that mixes construction training with classroom learning.
It’s the type of program many residents have said is necessary for a turnaround in Chester, yet, after 16 years, it’s in danger of closing and returning its students to environments in which they weren’t successful.
If YouthBuild is forced to close, high school students could return to Chester High School or seek out other programs, but the options for dropouts working on acquiring their GEDs would be minimal.
