Chester High Basketball Summer League

Is the Chester High boys basketball team playing in any summer leagues this year? I don't see them on any  rosters where the other schools are playing. After last year's performance, many they're too embarrassed to come out?

  1. Steph, As for our high school basketball team. When politics got involved and decided to selecte a staff of un concerned family members who not only was given our basketball team but also given the Boys Club and PAL program which is now under recreation we lost our energy and enthusium. Now you wil see a team of disrespectful guys who coaches allow to play while failing. These guys don't care .they got a salary and now they are saying the hell with these kids. they don't have the talent or the time to work with our kids. Shame on our City for destroying our PRIDE.

  2. I cant say that I totally agree with all that. Yes, politics is very involved especially with the elected board in place.
I believe that for years the coaches were better for the kids than they were for putting out great basketball. They go overboard to help these kids do better in school. If a kid is failing and can't play there's a good chance he will drop out. There's a lot to consider when dealing with our kids.
We have never put our best talent on the court and now that other schools are stealing our best players we will continue to suffer.
There's a lot I dont like about CHS basketball but the one thing I do like is that we make it work with home grown players. We are not a basketball factory recruiting talent from all over the country. Our coaches played here.
There is plenty of room for improvement but it's always worth the price of admission to see a game in the Clip Joint.

  3. First of all if you look around, there are a lot of Chester ball players playin Summer league ball "AAU circuit" others are working, studying so forth
so please dont start this conversation. And as far as the boys club and Pal We have guys that want on to college graduated and are here helping out so lets stop putting each other down,if you cant work together work alone,as far as failing and playing shouldnt that be the parents responsibility
.These jobs are not easy, people need to get along and do there part and maybe we can make things happen.I personally know both guys and they are trying to do good for the city, but for some reason people keep hating.I personally work with kids all year and its impossible not to care.DONT GIVE UP ON US.LETS GO BOARD IM ON YOUR SIDE/P.S THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I REALLY WANT TO PUT MY NAME.DEMOCRAT

  4. Out of 1000 kids that play basketball in Chester Only 40-50 play aau ball then we have less that 5 players working and we know for sure they aint doing no studing at all!!!Now you say Parents should be responsible for their child playing you are right but when you have probation officers and other coaches who argue with teachers about failing certian students that have the nerve to go to the state and ask if a player who has failed can play basketball its A shame!!!!
