It's amazing to me that 99% of the folks who respond to this blog op to remain nameless. What's up with that?
- Do people really value the opinions of a headless horseman?
- Do people have more courage to say what they want if they don't give a name?
Just like with caller-id, some folks just don't pick up the phone when they don't see a name or number they recognize. In my opinion, when folks comment as anonymous, there are folks who choose not to put any value on what you have to say.
Imagine if I was the Anonymous Blogger. Would anyone be reading this blog?
I still encourage you to respond and speak up, who ever you are.
I'd rather encourage than discourage hoping one day you'll have more courage.
I have read the blogs and have made positive comments as well as negative comments. Are you saying you just want the positive comments? I thought we have the right to freedom of speech in this country, maybe it's not the same for this area. Is this still America? If 99% of us are given the choice to be anonymous, we can't choose it? I don't think you need to call 99% percent of your readers cowards.
ReplyDeleteAll I'm saying is that I'm intrigued that everyone is nameless and I'm trying to figure out why.
ReplyDeleteIn no way am I suggesting to readers to comment, positive, negative or neutral. Just keep commenting please.
I'm not calling 99% of Anonymous folks cowards. My point is that it takes courage to stand behind your comments and readers respect that more. Or, maybe I'm wrong about that too. Getting readers opinions is what it's all about. The more the merrier.
FYI, I can disable the option that allows Anonymous contributors and force everyone to identify themselves. That's never been my intent.
Try not to read anything into it...I'm just curious...not hatin'.

If you took out the choice of anonymous, you would not get comments. You have to understand that this day and age people are getting fired from their jobs because of something they stated on Facebook or Twitter. So, most people want to stay anonymous to protect themselves (their jobs), but that does not make them cowards, that makes them smart people.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started this blog folks were sending me emails. When I asked why they didn't reply on the blog they said they didn't want to sign in. That's when I learned that I had to allow anonymous response. Once I filled in the check box the comments have been steady. So, you are right again.
ReplyDeleteMr. Roots, I am not apart of your conversation with the first Anonymous, so I will call myself Anonymous #2. This is why I am anonymous because of small town politics in Chester. Because your significant other is connected to politically the Democrat Party in Chester for which I am too a member, but I am fed up with it locally. I fear tat she reads this post and Kirkland will know who I am then he will target me. I don't want any problems with Kirkland. He will come at you like the Street and I don't want to deal with that in my life. As for courage, you should be happy with people posting anonymous. Maybe this will encourage people to post or send anonymous information to the police in Chester to solve crimes. Maybe the police department can have a blog where people can be ANONYMOUS.
ReplyDeleteIs Chester politics really that 'thugish'? I've been challenging both parties for 4 years with the Chester Spotlight and now on this blog and I still get warm welcomes when I see our politicians. Maybe I just don't know better or maybe folks are just paranoid. I'm meeting with Chester police on Tuesday to discuss ways to get them involved with this blog. We certainly don't need a dozen different Chester blogs. There is a huge benefit to the community when all the agencies support a single web based portal for the community to connect through. We don't need to create more factions. Tell your friends to tune in here. Subscribe to the newsletter. You'll never miss a post again. This is fast becoming the Chester City communication hub. Anonymous or not, you voice counts.
