Someday soon, it will be time to vote for your favorite Delaware County businesses in the annual Delco Times Best of Delco contest.
In 2003, owner Rick Wilcox asked me how he could get on the ballot during my short stint in advertising with the Daily Times. After some pushing and prodding, we finally got him set up to join the contest and he has won every year since then.
The only problem with Phatso's Bakery is that they often win in more than one category: Best Donut and Best Bakery.
According to how the Daily Times feels each year, they decide if Phatso's will take both prizes or simply have to choose between one or the other.
Thanks to you faithful customers and voters, Phatso's has a very long streak going. Let's not mess it up now.

very good donuts should work on better customer service
ReplyDeleteWhat has been your customer service experience that they should work on improving?
Deletedonuts too sweet. no vote.
DeleteToo sweet? Would you vote for them if they make sour donuts?
DeleteAren't donuts supposed to be sweet? Is there a less sweet sugar being used by someone?
Yes, old fashion donuts are less sweet. Never heard of a sour donut. That's just stupid!

DeleteThis past Saturday, I stopped into Phatso's for a cup of coffee and a donut. OMG, TheBest. One donut was all I had, and it was so light and fresh and mouth watering good. I slowly ate my donut, letting it linger in my mouth as my senses enjoyed the goodness of the donut. I also had some donut holes, they were also the lightest and freshes pastry. People when you want a really good donut, this is absolutely the Best.
ReplyDeleteHands down, the BEST!!!. Donuts, cupcakes, and the sticky buns, Lord Have Mercy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am in the Chester area I always make my way t Phatso's. My brother turned me on to them a couple of years ago and I attest to the fact they are the best. In Georgia the people rave about Krispy Cream and I say they just don't know what good donuts are until you try Fatso. By the way, Mr. Wilcox's roots are in GA.

I love the place! Excellent customer service and a unique great tasting donuts!
ReplyDeleteBest donuts in the world!! Moved from Chester to Arizona in 2012 and miss Phatso's!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mr. Wilcox! Looking back, it looks like you have been providing these delicious Donuts and other treats to the folks in Chester for almost 12 years. I enjoyed visiting with you and enjoyed some of your products quite a few years ago, just wish I were closer so I could enjoy them regularly. Congratulations on your very well-deserved awards, I'm sure that you'll keep up the winning streak!
ReplyDeletePhatso's are the best around, that Dunkin Doughnut stuff is junk. I tell my kids all the time I would risk suspension at school to get overtown to get a Anne's Doughnut. I was devastated when I heard Anne's was closing but was really happy when I found out Phatso's was taste just like Anne's. I am definately Team-Phatso!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah these donuts are the best on the East Coast, they beat Dunkin and all the trendy donut shops too. I live in Vancouver and I come here when I visit friends in Philly. They are so good!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit Vancouver. Maybe we can make Phatsos the official donut of the Canucks.
