Can a building fall in Chester?

I have always worried about how buildings either remain in tact after years of neglect or how they come down when the bulldozer arrives.

Not long ago, a Chester women was killed when a floor and wall on the second story of her home gave way, depositing her outside the house near the back door.

There are probably dozens of other homes around town in dangerously bad condition that folks are living in, not to mention the dozens of empty buildings that seem to be hanging on by a thread.

The tragic incident in Philadelphia only reminds us how dangerous old buildings can be.

Sleepers College was knocked down well over a month ago but cleaning up the mess isn't a priority except for this advertiser.

Thank God the Department of Transportation has saved the Ruth L. Bennett buildings. But for what purpose?

VIDEO: Fortunately this building didn't fall on anyone while waiting to be taken down (from July 2010).

  1. I've complained to the city several times about a house that is connected to my late uncle house. Over that last couple of years it has caught fire several times but no one will do anything about it. The house is so bad now we are afraid of it collapsing and someone getting hurt.
