I do not know when this event was held.
Neither do I nor when.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all! Not to add any negative social commentary to such a positive event, but did anyone else notice that it looks like there are only a couple young men that were honored? SMH
ReplyDeleteParents had to apply on behalf of their children. Joy Clark did a phenomenal job putting together this event and was begging parents to sign up their kids to be recognized and rewarded. But as you can see, not too many people responded. I, for one, am a proud parent of one of the seniors that was honored and given a laptop bundle. Kudos to the city for finally getting something right!!!
ReplyDeletethsnks to the butler team for starting this event 10 years ago. Joy Clark should do BETTER outreach so all the children would know this event has NEVER been just for high school. All city residents that has the grade point should have been their. NOT JUST COUNCIL FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Deletecongrats to the honored youth.....their teachers are teaching!!! and they are learning!!!
ReplyDeletewho is the lady on the far right?
ReplyDeleteLamont2086
Which one? In the peach-colored dress?
ReplyDeleteGood job Mr Mayor, now get to work on the city and stop all the photo ops.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to see the Mayor honor the students for their achivements. My questions is; is this the 1950s or when? Is this a segragated school or what? I only see one race of students. Congratulations students!
ReplyDeleteLW
Yes. The schools are segregated because the neighborhoods are segregated because the city is segregated. The only melting pot around here is in the kitchen. We don't have any racial tension here. We all don't get all but race ain't the reason why. It's a city left to the blacks but unless something changes soon decisions will no longer be left to the blacks.
DeleteOops. We all don't get along but race ain't the reason why.
DeleteYes Sir well said. this would be ok if it was all white in Parkside, or all white in Brookhaven.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay in Chester.
DeleteWhat a wonderful and encouraging event! I wish I had known about it
ReplyDeletebefore. There are some great students around here who are rarely
noticed, like Diamonte Reason and his basketball squad (3D)that played
magnificently in the Triple Sports events last weekend (6/15/13)at West Chester State University. I couldn't find their Coach's name
Was this event a secret? The Mayor has a poor PR Department. PR should notified the press like Mayor Butler use to.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have been a secret if Clark, Duncan, and the kids showed up. But it wasn't announced here and neither was the Father's Day thing in the park. This audience don't matter I guess.
DeleteOK private then for those people and the parents.
