Since April 2011, this blog has announced the coming of the Philabundance grocery store concept to Chester. It’s received one of the most uninspired responses from readers despite Chester residents strong desire to have a supermarket in the city.
But, that hasn’t bothered Philabundance as they have moved forward as promised and are now to the point of hiring some of you uninspired folks to staff their store.
We love to point blame to those we accuse of blocking supermarkets from coming, and we seem to challenge the only other one who says they’re coming. But, Philadabundance simply flies below the radar and will be launching a historic buying concept here in Chester this summer.
As they say in church, ‘We’ll understand it better by and by’.
According to the Daily Times...
...the store will provide 40 yo 50 full- and part-time jobs, including management positions, when it opens in late summer.
Fare and Square has a range of positions to fill, including cashiers, clerks, maintenance staff and management positions. The openings include both salaried and hourly employees.
Because Philabundance seeks to hire Chester residents to operate Fare and Square, Hood said the grocery store will “truly be a community supermarket.”
Philabundance again will host an employment information session Tuesday at PA CareerLink, 701 Crosby St., from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Fare and Square will be a member-only grocery store, but anyone can gain free membership. The store will operate 8 am.-8 p.m. daily.
