2013 Primary Election Results

Chester's most popular politician?
In case you missed it, there was a primary election held in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

The results prove that Portia West may be Chester’s most popular politician as she received a whopping 939 votes, which is a lot even in a general election. William Al Jacobs will rejoin her in City Council as they far outnumbered their Republican challengers. We'll see how it pans out in the general election.

William Riley proved to be no chump as he gathered 848 votes to lead all school board candidates. Republican Shakuwra Randolph made the top 4.

In County Council, Chester’s Pat Worrell obtained 808 votes from Chester, but not nearly enough from the rest of the county to serve in Media.

The most intriguing victory went to Dawn Vann who defeated Marilyn Lee for District Judge...sort of.

Since Vann cross filed, the Democrats gave her more votes than Lee on that ticket. But as a stand alone Republican, Vann had fewer votes than Lee received as a Democrat. It would have been interesting if Lee had cross filed, huh?

As always, Chester voters always seem to vote for non Chester candidates more than their own. The Register of Wills, County Controller, Judges for Superior Court and Court of Common Pleas with no Chester connections got far more votes than the Chester district judges. I’ll never understand that about Chester voters.

    1. Two. Councilpersons West and Jacobs will represent the Democrats. Garner and Randolph will represent the Republicans. In November, the top two vote getters among the four of them will become your council persons.

  5. That is not the only thing going on with the streets dept. These guys are drinking on the job and picking up trash from people using City Ford trucks for thier own personal reasons. I seen a City truck worker allowing a lady to put her trash onto the truck, take a ride to Chatham Estaes and you will see for yourself. Eventually all things you think you're doing will come to the light.

    1. Let me help readers understand that comment. Anonymous obviously has missing keys on their keyboard.

"Trash will be picked up two times per week. Heavy trash and recycle items will be picked up in the same week. If you read, you would know this."
