Chester at the Penn Relays

  1. Always awesome and exciting every year. The meet Itself Is still great, but the PENN decision makers have made several changes that aren't very popular with track and field fans. Seating arrangements and removal of the many popular vendors has taken some of the fun away.

  2. True. What used to be the Penn Relay Carnival is just a Penn Relay now. The party in front of the stadium with the vendors and food made it hard to decide if you wanted to go in and watch track or stay on the street and watch people. Sorry to see that go.

The ticket pricing is getting out of hand. It used to be a bargain to see almost 10 hours of non-stop track for under $30. Now, at over $50, you get what you pay for. At least 48,000 people thought so on Saturday.

My biggest gripe is the worthless new scoreboard. The old one was perfect. The new one is absolutely useless for the relays. I doubt if football brings in more money their entire season than the relays brings in in one weekend. The old scoreboard was made for track. The new one for football. Stupid move.
