Chester Panthers Football wins P.I.A.A. award

Hon. Mayor John A. Linder attended the P.I.A.A. Football Officials awards dinner to honor and award outstanding athletic performance by several team organizations including The Chester Panthers Football Association who were awarded two division titles and Delaware County’s “2012 Best Boys Club” award.

On November 22, 2012 both the Pee Wee (7-8)) and Senior (13-15) Teams won Delaware County Football Division Titles continuing a championship legacy dating back to 2004.

Officials, volunteer head coaches, and assistant coaches were invited to Concordville, PA to celebrate the young athletes and witness Mayor Linder’s presentation to Coach Charles Thompson, who accepted on behalf of the organization.

“We stress upon the kids and give them examples of how to conduct a sporting competition with integrity, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance, and they have responded with this triumph.” Charles Thompson.
“On behalf of the City of Chester, I am so proud of what these kids have accomplished, the support and commitment of their families and coaches, and it is not just a win for them, but a win for Chester also.” Mayor John Linder.

A celebratory parade is scheduled for December 8th, 2012 at 2PM beginning at Memorial Park at the corner of 7th and Ward Streets and concluding at Chester City Hall. The Chester Panther Champions will also host a Champions Bowling Party at AMF Bowl and Annual Banquet February 10th, 2013.
