State of Emergency in Chester

MAYOR JOHN LINDER DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR CHESTER

Effective 18:30 Eastern Standard Time following Governor Corbett’s signing of a State of Emergency Declaration for the state of Pennsylvania, Hon. Mayor John A. Linder of Chester PA, declared a subsequent State of Emergency for Chester City. This authorizes Officials of the City of Chester to meet the current demands of the emergency by the employment of workers, renting of equipment, and purchasing of supplies and materials as required to meet the emergency. Residents of the area should secure necessary provisions for relocation and evacuation if necessary, acquire any emergency supplies needed for a sustained amount of time, and seek updates and emergent preparedness information from both the Chester City website at www.ChesterCity.com and the community access channel ten in the Chester area. If you live in a low lying flood prone area, you are encouraged to prepare to evacuate should the need arise.  If evacuation becomes necessary the city will open a shelter at Showalter School located at 10th & Lloyd streets. Stay tuned to Cable channel 10 and local news for updates.

  1. There also will be plenty of us volunteering to help our residents that suffer from the storm damage. Anyone interested in volunteering might want to contact the Chester City Office of Community Liaison for further details or instructions on how to volunteer.
