‘President Obama has failed at everything’ according to Mitt Romney.
That statement alone disqualifies him from many voters who would otherwise be objective in their selection of the next president. However, that's the message a lot of other voters want to hear.
I’m not a politician and have never ran for an office, but I never miss the opportunity to vote and try to do so with an open mind and a lot of candidate research under my belt.
Yet, when the Mittster comes out the gate making blanket statements that the current president is a big failure, my research on him is done.
If President Obama failed at everything he ever did, you can’t read that story and not respect his decision making process, especially when compared to military decisions made by some recent presidents.
In my opinion, President Obama wears that Commander-in-Chief title very seriously, so much so that it’s easy to label him as a war monger. No POTUS has kicked so much ass around the world than him in such a short time.
After reading the Time article, I now believe that the nation’s guns couldn’t be in better hands.
Foreign policy and military affairs are some of the most complex issues, period. In my opinion, we have a president that can process those complexities, weigh the risk and contingencies, and make the right decisions.
Mitt, on the other hand, will just go around pointing fingers and calling people names.
There’s no way I’d want him making decision for the military.
Would you?
I love it when people write a story that is based on words taken out of context. If you could be so kind to provide us with the whole transcript, and not just the little bit you can use to twist the story, then maybe you could be more than just a writer for a blog about Chester. You're not going to do that, however, because you specifically said your research is done. It's great how you are allowed the same vote as someone who does research on all the candidates.
ReplyDeleteIt's also funny how you call Mr. Romney "The Mittster" only to sum up your article and and say that Mr. Romney will just call people names.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aide.
Are you kidding. Just search the term 'Romney calls Obama failure'. You'll find a ton of context and all the transcripts that won't fit on a blog. Or, turn on the TV. I didn't realize his statement was a secret.
DeleteIf being the Chester blogger was all I was doing I'd be bored to death. You want to see my resume? Have you read my book? Have you read my technical articles in trade magazines? Have you read all 48 issues of the Chester Spotlight? Probably not.
I'm allow the same vote as someone who does research...what's that mean?
If Gov. Romney can call President Obama a failure at all things with a straight face, I can call him the Mittster.
I like Red Kool-Aid if you're buying.
Wow, Anonymous, you sound angry...It's just an opinion. We all are entitled to our opinions, right? Some folks will like the outcome and some will not.
ReplyDeleteEverything we see and hear is subjective and bound to be interpreted, right? Even the Bible gets taken out of context everyday and people pick and choose what they want to do and follow...Personally, I get sick and tired of people calling President Obama everything but President--"that guy", "boy", Obama...The way people talk about his policies, you would think we had a perfect world and balanced budget here in the USA before PResident Obama took office
Angry? Anyone who truly follows the news and seeks the truth should be angry right now. A lot of americans are too busy watching reality television and sports instead of following the news and getting involved in the path this country is traveling. The economy is awful, prices for food, gas, interest rates on loans, pretty much everything is on the rise, folks need jobs, and politicians are so busy continuing to line their own pockets and lie to the public and trying to get re elected that nothing is getting any better.
DeleteMy whole point here is that people need to wake up, hold elected officials accountable, and don't make a decision based on one or two quotes taken out of context.
As for the name calling, I totally agree. Unfortunately, all the Presidents are subject to it, and as long as our society continues down the path it is on, it will only get worse. Respect for our fellow man is slowly dwindling.
The Chester Spotlight was in print from 2006-2010. Since you said I wouldn't be anything but a Chester Blogger, I wanted to make sure you knew that this is a minor sideline, not an occupation. i do it or people like you who are intestered in Chester issues.
ReplyDeleteYes, politicians will make themselves look good at the expense of making the opponent look bad. Yes, it's importatnt to fact check.
Most of us have been watching Romney all through the debates. Nothing impressed me about his platform there either.
And then he goes around the country calling the President a failure. I don't expect him to call him Gods gift to the United States, but there's no way I can take him serious if he bases his campaign on convincing his base that the President is a failure at everything he does. Even you know that's not true, I hope.
The military budget has gone up every year. More bombs have been dropped and more bad guys caught. i hate war and it's not my favorite attribute of the president.
The Time article made it VERY CLEAR that most of his own people did not approve of him attacking the Bin Ladin compound. They were less than 60% sure that it was him in that house. Like Oliva Pope in the new show Scandal, the President took a vote and most people voted a against it. He went with his gut and approved the mission. Had he been wrong, that would have been a disaster.
According to you, as a writer, I should play the middle, don't have an opinion one way or another, and refuse to take sides. That ain't going to happen.
I still don't understand the Kool-Aide reference.
Finally, I've written on this blog in the past that my wish is that President Obama doesn't run again. I wish he and his beatiful family go live the rest of their lives away from the pressures of the world and live the luxorious life that former Presidents seem to enjoy. Write a book or two and live off of $100,000 speeches. Bill Clinton is the master at that game.
More importantly, without President Obama, the country can get back to politics of old without all the lack of cooperation, bias, and lack of common sense.
Now that we're at this point, I'm glad he's hanging on because I don't trust this country in anyone elses hands.
But, given a choice, I'd rather he quit.
Mr. Roots,
DeleteYou replied to my second comment, however you failed to post what I wrote...
Why?
Hummm...there's something in your comment that Blogger doesn't like. It wouldn't let me approve or reject it so I copy and pasted ot myself and replied to it. It was there when I replied.
DeleteI'll try to copy and paste again. It may be the link within the post. First time this has happened.
HERE'S THE COMMENT THAT DIDN'T GET POSTED:
DeleteOk, look up Obama Lies and Failures and you will also get a ton of context, transcripts, and facts that will be way more than we can fit in this blog, too. Flip on the TV and you will get "stories" that lean one way or another, depending on the channel and person talking.
Sorry if I haven't read any technical articles in trade magazines that you've written. We don't share the same trade. I have read the Chester Spotlight, it's been brought in to where I work on several occasions and I have read through them. I live and work in Chester, so I do care about Chester stories and news, and the opinions of some of the residents. That's why I come to this blog. Thanks for automatically assuming I haven't read anything else, though.
My point of commenting here is that Mr. Romney, like most politicians, including the President himself, will point fingers at opposition and speak in a manner to which makes himself look good while making the opponent look bad. That's the nature of politicians running for any office with opposition.
It is OUR job as voters to thoroughly research all candidates to make an informed decision based on all the facts. When you are willing to take one statement out of context and say that your research is done, is only showing your bias towards the current President and the fact that you are a writer makes it even worse, because you should continue to read and absorb as much information as possible so that readers have a credible story to read.
As for the current POTUS kicking more ass in such a short time comment? Did you mean Kiss more ass? That would be a more correct statement. You relate to a story in TIME magazine about the Osama mission... ANY President would have given a green light to the mission. Thank the combined efforts of our military, not the President, for that mission. Also, if you haven't read, the SEALS are not exactly thrilled that the mission has been turned into a political gain talking point. See http://www.businessinsider.com/navy-seals-hammer-obama-on-osama-bin-laden-ad-2012-5#ixzz1tcvOChdb for a little more information.
I'm not buying the Kool-Aide. It's given out for free by the Unions, A Majority of the news media, most of the White House staff, plenty of politicians, and anyone else with an agenda.
So sit back and drink up, and watch as the country is pushed to "Lean Forward"... (Look that up, too...) Socialism, Marxism, it's all coming.
Looks like it wouldn't let me paste it as anonymous. Thanks
DeleteSad to say the only reason Obama was elected was because he is half black. He really was not ready to lead a nation. He is a great speaker but just not ready. He realy could have had a great impact but he did not totally surround himself with the best people. He is done and we as a country need to move on and rebuild.
ReplyDeleteSo what excuse do you have for GW?
DeleteNone he did a great job. Better then this this guy. You know the only reason he got elected was because he is half black.
