On Saturday April 14, the 3rd Annual Hero Scholarship All-Star Basketball Game will be played at Interboro High School in Prospect Park.
There will be two games held that afternoon; the first one will be the senior girl’s game at 1:00PM followed by a senior boy’s game at 3:00PM.
The teams will be coached by Delaware County Varsity High School coaches and be broken down into East and West Squads.
They are Girls East Squad Coach Tom Stewart from APMB High School, Girls West Squad Coach Mark Jordan from Radnor High School, Boys West Squad Coach Mike Snyder from Ridley High School and East Squad Coach Bill Fagan from Chi-Chester High School.
Each squad will consist of 15 players plus one chosen by the respective coach of the Squad for a total of 16 players.
Last year we had over 500 paid admissions and were able to clear over $4,000.00 for the fund. There will be MVP’s chosen from each squad and a presentation Trophy given to the winning Squad.
The officials for the game are PIAA Varsity Officials who are either in law enforcement or related to a law enforcement official, who are volunteering their time
The Hero Scholarship Fund was founded in 1977 by County Council at the request of two Upper Darby Township Councilmembers, John Clark and Rudolph D’Alesio, to provide educational scholarships for the children of police, fire fighters and emergency medical personnel who die in line of duty.
Questions pertaining to the game should be directed to Chief Bob Adams of the Collingdale Police Department at 610-586-0502. Admission is $5 for all.
