Glee does awesome Whitney Houston tribute

Who would have thought that Glee would provide the first real Whitney Houston tribute worthy of her greatness.
I’ve never watched an episode of Glee, but I almost always listen to their CDs when they come out. They do great covers of songs from all genres.
Their brilliant treatment of Whitney songs should be released as a CD (and probably will).

As much as I wasn’t too engaged in the storyline of the show, I must admit that seeing the impact that a high school music program can have on students should be drilled in the heads of our state legislators who find it convenient to save money by cutting out arts programs in schools.

Us old folks remember the music programs at Chester High just like the Upper Darby students will see their music programs become distant memories in the near future.

My daughter graduated from Tri-Cities High School in Atlanta about 10 years ago, and she was the first to try to get me to watch Glee because it reminded her of her high school days in the glee club. (The members of Outcast were her classmates).
This year, Tri-Cities High School staged ‘Color Purple’. My daughter is still connected to the school and was chosen to do the costumes for a few of the main characters.
The play was so amazing that Tyler Perry attended opening night.
I can’t say that I’ll be watching Glee on a regular, but I must give them credit for an awesome Whitney tribute and for being an example of how important a high school music program can be in a young person’s life.
