14 cent difference in gas prices doesn't stop Chester folks from buying Sunoco |
Chester’s 9th & Kerlin is the hot spot for low price gasoline. Three gas stations share that busy intersection and normally the prices are very close to one another.
The two most popular stations, Gulf and Sunoco post their prices on big signs. The no-name station doesn’t have a sign. (Why does anyone buy their gas there?)
We’ve all seen folks seek the station with the lowest prices, even if it’s by a few pennies, but here in Chester, a 14 cent difference doesn’t keep folks from buying Sunoco over Gulf.
Gulf is 6 cents higher than Sunoco for the Plus and Premium grade. Maybe that’s why Sunoco has more cars at their pumps than Gulf.
Now that Sunoco is getting out of refining, no one knows who makes that gasoline that supplies these three stations. Does that matter to anyone?
What motivates you to buy gas where you do? Is it price, brand, convenience, habit, or something else?
I have bought gas from both Sunoco and Gulf and I found that the Gulf gas does not last as long as the Sunoco gas. Now the other gas station with no name I don't patron at all because there is too much activity around the window.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny since most likely their gas is coming from the same place.
DeleteI thought so too, maybe Gulf is adding additives or something but I don't get as much bang for my buck there.
ReplyDeleteThat's is strange because I asked a friend of mine in 2007, when Bush Jr was in office, "Why the gas go so fast?" He told me tht ethanol makes the gas burn "hotter" and tht is why ppl are filling up either every day or every other day. I don't know if it is true about ethanol making the gas burn "hotter" and "quicker?"
ReplyDeleteMany believe that it does burn faster. Since Gulf doesn't own refineries and Sunoco may be getting out of the business, no one know where the gasoline is coming from or what's in it. Soon, it will all be coming from the same place. Trust me.
